BOULDER, Co. – (March 10, 2016) – iEmpathize, a non-profit organization that uses empathy and education in an effort to eradicate child exploitation, announced a free webinar for adults through its Empower Youth Program. Scheduled for Thursday, March 17 at 12pm MT., the Empowering Students to Battle Exploitation webinar is designed to help adults better understand the problem of child exploitation and share what iEmpathize is doing to evoke empathy to eradicate child exploitation.
As part of this webinar program, iEmpathize will provide an overview of the process of pushes and pulls that exploitative people use to manipulate and exploit a child.
Other highlights include providing information about trends and strategies to help community leaders and school officials recognize and respond to vulnerable or victimized youth. There will also be opportunities for participants to engage with iEmpathize in eradicating child exploitation.
According to Joice, “Major learnings from this free webinar include scoping the problem, identifying perpetrator behaviors, understanding child vulnerabilities to exploitation and discovering opportunities on how to get involved to help stop this crisis.”
Sex trafficking is not only a problem for females; research has identified that boys are also at high risk. In fact, one in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused before the age of 18. Due to the age of children targeted, perpetrators of these crimes view schools as a prime location to lure new victims.
The new webinar is based upon the methodologies employed in the Empower Youth Program and offers information about how to engage in the solution.
